The Movie We Didn't Finish

Last night Kelly and I sat down to watch a movie after the kids went to bed. We have Blockbuster's version of Netflix, so we had an action movie, a family movie, and a comedy that a few people had told us was very funny. We were both in a mood for a comedy, so we put in Napoleon Dynamite.

We watched all of about 30-40 minutes of it. While a couple of things sparked a humorous snort - like the guy's trapper keeper, remember those? - it was soooo not funny. In fact, we were both just annoyed. Sorry, whoever told us that was a funny movie. Napoleon is annoying. We just didn't get what was supposed to be funny or where this movie was going. My theory is that people who think this is funny also think Seinfeld was funny. We never liked Seinfeld.

So while I appreciate that there are vastly different kinds of humor and that different people like different things (eg. Kelly likes Mr. Bean and I can't stand him!), Kelly and I have two words for this particular movie:

(snap, snap) Hated It!

"whoever told us that movie was funny..."

uh, that is EVERYONE, Tami. and part of what's so funny is that there is no plot. plots are highly overrated. I'm just laughing at the image of y'all watching it in disgust!

Yes you are officially the first people Ive known to not think that movie is funny! I know I was one of those people. sorry.

I am with you! I hated it as well and ended up turning it off. I just didn't get the humor in it. YOU'RE NOT ALONE!

Haven't seen it, but we don't like Seinfeld either; so we'll just skip it!

We haven't seen it, but from what we've heard about it, we HAVEN'T wanted to see it! I do like dry, witty humor but I don't think this falls into that category!

We remember thinking Strange Brew was funny back in the day, but once we saw it it again a couple of years ago, we couldn't even stand to finish the movie. We just chalked it up to being dumb when we were young! Sorry to those who still think Strange Brew is funny! ;-)

Don't feel bad, Tami, we get ragged for not ever finishing "O Brother Where Art Thou". It is a family favorite of the Cottles and we just couldn't make ourselves watch the whole thing. Everyone has different tastes.

Lora, I can't stand "O Brother" either! I've already been disowned by my family for hating it.

I didn't like Napolean the first time I watched it either, but then when I watched it the 2nd time, I loved it! I still love it! Chase went through a crazy Napolean craze and he cracked me up! Now, my family has moved on to Nacho Libre and I don't think that movie is funny at ALL!!! To each is own. LOL

We like it. We are not Seinfield fans. I bet I hate all the movies you like. :)
Are you a mushy-gushy chick flick fan?

Tiffany, no not overly. I probably like some movies you would consider chick flicks, but I also like some action, love historical films, war movies, comedies, LOTR is probably my all time favorite. I also like movies that make you think, but I hate mistaken identity movies.
