If only I had a nickel...

I wonder how many times I will have uttered the following phrase before I die:

"The silent 'e' at the end makes the vowel say its name."

Oh so glad to know I am not alone in this. My 5yo is learning to read and I feel a bit like a broken record with this.....delurking to comment and say that I really enjoy your blog and have been reading for quite awhile!

It's also nice to know I am not alone. I'm on my 4th child in the line with two more to go. Don't know how many more times I can say it without checking into the loony bin! :-)

Too funny! I hear you. I have said that over and over again too! What about 'the second vowel is silent and the first one says it's name':)The joys of teaching our children to read. Actually the joy of when they finally 'get it'!
